In May, the city of Gyula offers exciting events for visitors - sports, gastronomy and colourful festivals will provide unforgettable experiences!

May Festival in the Castle Garden of Gyula (1-3 May)
On the first weekend of May, the May Festival in Gyula Castle Garden offers activities for all ages. A parade, dog show, children's concerts and dance performances will set the mood, while a craft playground, sausage baking and bubble football will provide active recreation.

XVII Run for disabled children! - Charity Run (2 May)
On 2 May, from 11 am, you can take part in the charity sporting event "Run for injured children" in support of injured children. Participants can choose between 7 and 21 kilometres, while cyclists can complete a 42-kilometre course. Participation is subject to registration.

Gyula Flowers Festival (9-10 May)
On the second weekend of May, the Göndöcs Garden and Peace Avenue will be transformed into a special festival venue, with a two-day event featuring a plant and flower fair, craft programmes and concerts. During the festival, professional and family programmes and bands will complete the programme.

Tour de Hongrie - Big Race in Gyula (12-13 May)
One of the most important international cycling events in Hungary will start from the Castle Garden in Gyula on 13 May. The spectacular start and the team presentation will offer a special experience for all sport lovers. The race can be followed live from the fan zone in the castle garden, while an expo and a public meeting will also be part of the programme. On the day before the race, there will be a chance to meet the teams and a cycling expo will also be open.

Tri-City Cycling Festival & Wenckheim 50 (16-17 May)
Cycling will once again take centre stage in the middle of the month. A 50 km tour linking Gyula, Békéscsaba and Békés will take participants on a 50 km route to discover the beauty of the region. For the Wenckheim 50 performance tour, a 45 km bike ride between the three towns will be completed within a 2-hour time limit. The towns of Békés, Gyula and Békéscsaba will all be hosting a festival atmosphere during the Three Towns Cycling Festival.

Gyula Pálinka Festival (22-24 May)
The 2026 festival will also take place on Pentecost, 22-24 May 2026, in the Castle Garden next to our hotel. The 3-day Gyulai Pálinka Festival will feature a variety of performers and will guarantee fun and entertainment. The event will offer a wide range of activities and of course the biggest Hungarian pálinka producers will be waiting for you as exhibitors.
